Ronald Edwin Boehme


 

Ronald Edwin Boehme passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 7:07 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL. He was 89 years old.


 

Mr. Boehme was born on January 27, 1935 in Litchfield, IL to Edwin Boehme and Norma (Niemann) Boehme. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Mt. Olive, IL until the 8th grade. Mr. Boehme was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Olive High School. He served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and was selected as the “Soldier of the Cycle” during his basic training. He was employed by the United States Army as a civilian in business management for the Apache and Cheyenne helicopters. He also served in the National Guard for 9 years. Mr. Boehme earned a Master’s Degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL where he was a founding member of Delta Chi. He married Gwendolyn Joyce Oelrichs in 1958 at Mt. Olive Zion Church, and she survives. Mr. Boehme enjoyed bowling and horseshoes. He was a master gardener and an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini Fan. Mr. Boehme loved spending time with his family.


 

Mr. Boehme is survived by his wife, a son, Craig (Linda) Boehme of Huntsville, AL, two daughters: Gretchen (Skyler) Boehme of Lincoln, IL and Alison (Tom) Corak of Hamel, IL, two grandchildren: Jessica and Mathew and four great-grandchildren: Gwen, Julian, Rowan, and Adrian, a brother, Armand (Judy) Boehme of Northfield, MN and many nieces and nephews.


 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bette Boehme.


 

Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL. A service will begin at 3 p.m. where his brother, Armand Boehme, will officiate.


 

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Olive Academic Foundation and Adopt-A-Pet in Benld, IL.
