Donald Arthur Sanvi, 86, of Springfield, IL, died at 4:40 pm on Friday, February 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 21, 1931 in Mt. Olive, IL, son of the late Isadore and Bertha Anna Schoppman Sanvi. On February 11, 1956 he married Joyce Lucille Kirkwood at Holy Trinity Church in Mt. Olive, IL. Donald graduated from Mt. Olive Public High School with the class of 1949. He worked for Capital Airport in Springfield as an electrical engineer and retired in 1988. After his retirement he worked at the off track betting parlor. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving as an Airman 1st class. Donald received a National Defense Service Medial and a Medal of good conduct for his services. Growing up he was a member of the Holy Trinity Church and the Yurkovich-Beck Mt. Olive American Legion Post #0594. Donald enjoyed many things including coaching little league, playing on Becker's Kitten Ball Team, watching the Cubs and football, bowling, fishing, and horse racing. He is survived by his wife Joyce Sanvi of Springfield, IL, one son Jim (Becky) Sanvi of Fuquay-Varina, NC, one daughter Linda (Richard) Skeeters of Springfield, IL, six grandchildren Abby (Tom) Barton of Long Island, NY, Katie (Michael) Riccitiello of Apex, NC, Todd (Amy) Skeeters of Chatham, IL, Jamie Skeeters and companion Wes McGraw of Springfield, IL, Brian (Melodey) Skeeters of Springfield, IL, and Jeff Skeeters of Springfield, IL, and fourteen great grandchildren Ryan, Gram, Gracie, Tommy, Carter, Alec, Logan, Sydney, Sammy, Sophia, Addy, Wavelynn, Layla and Krista. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Harold Louis "Bud" Sanvi and one great grandson Kaleb. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL with Father Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Burial will be at Chapman Cemetery Mt. Olive, IL. Military rites and graveside by the Mt. Olive Area Veterans. Lunch for family and friends will be served at Tilley's Tavern Mt. Olive IL.
