Military: a PFC in the United States Army from January15, 1957 - December 30 1958 serving in Germany, he received a Good Conduct Medal and a Marksman with Carbine Award. He was discharged from the reserves January 14, 1963.
Church:  A member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized on July 28, 1934. and was confirmed on March 30, 1947
