Erhardt John Prange

Erhardt John Prange was born on Palm Sunday, April 13, 1924 in Walshville Twp the son of Frank and Anna Stamer Prange. He was baptized April 21, 1924 and was confirmed March 21, 1937 at Mt. Olive Zion Lutheran Church. Erhardt attended Zion Lutheran School for 7 years and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in 1942. He married Elda Niehaus on August 12, 1951 in Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Hofenke.

He died 8:45 am Monday, April 22, 2019 at Heritage Health of Litchfield IL.

Veteran of the US Navy during World War II. He took basic training at Great Lakes and the went to Armed Guard School in Gulf Port Mississippi. Erhardt served on S.S. Spidoliene, S.S. Sandwich, S.S. Frank Flowers and the Naval Air Training Station in Honolulu Hawaii. He also took part in the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight with his son on October 11, 2011.
After being discharged on May 14, 1946 he returned home to the family farm. The farm has been in the Prange name since 1874 and Erhardt was the 4th generation to work this land. Erhardt was a life long member of the Mt. Olive Zion Lutheran Church where he served 2 years on the council and 4 years as treasurer. He was also a member of the Litchfield American Legion Post #0436.

He enjoyed family, playing cards, bowling, traveling, St. Louis Cardinals and "solving" world problem at Jubelts Bakery with his friends.
Erhardt is survived by 1 son Robert (Joanne) Prange of Oregon, WI; 2 daughters Barbara (Mark) Hollo of Conover, NC and Brenda (Charles) Croxton of Bloomington, IL; 5 grandchildren Kimberly (Shawn) Seifert, Kevin (Megan) Prange, Robert (Carly) Hollo, Scott (Cate) Hollo, Michael (Wanda) Croxton; 12 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna, wife Elda, 2 sisters Marian Adden and Ada Marburger, grandson Mathew Croxton and granddaughter-in-law Erinn Hollo.

Visitation: Thursday, April 25, 2019, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Becker & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive &  Friday, April 26. from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Mt. Olive.
Funeral Service: Friday, April 26, 2019, 11:00 a.m.,  Zion Lutheran Church, Mt. Olive.
Burial:  Mt. Olive City Cemetery.
Clergy: Reverend Ben Fiore
Lunch:  Following the ceremony for family and friends served in the Zion Fellowship Hall by the ladies of the church.
