Laura Ruschhaupt Obituary

Laura Sophie Ruschhaupt, 96, of Staunton, IL, died at Community Hospital of Staunton on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:05 pm. She was born March 2, 1922, in Mt. Olive, IL to Louis Niehaus and Emma (Kruse) Niehaus. She was married to Henry Edward Ruschhaupt on September 23, 1945 by Rev. Hofhenke at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL. Henry proceeded her in death on April 9, 1999. Laura attended Zion Lutheran Grade School in Mt. Olive and later received her GED. She loved working the farm with her husband Henry. She also worked at Country Side Gardens and Chapmans Greenhouse. Laura was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, IL where she was active in the quilting circle, L.W.M.L. and teaching Sunday School.  

Laura loved her family, friends and good neighbors. She also enjoyed day trips, family dinners and birthday parties. Laura liked to quilt with her cousins. Gardening was her passion. She always found peace and joy in planting, weeding and later harvesting its bounty, by canning and freezing everything in sight. Laura always raised big potato and strawberry patches. Recently when asked "If you could ask God anything what would it be?" She immediately answered: "Why are you so good to us?"

Laura is survived by her son Lawrence (Karen) Ruschhaupt of Staunton, IL; Three grandsons Ryan Ruschhaupt of Mt. Olive, IL; Tim (Jennifer) Ruschhaupt of New Douglas, IL; Mark Ruschhaupt of Staunton, IL; Two great-grandchildren Mckenzie and Lane Ruschhaupt; Two nieces Janice (Gary) Schoen and Marla Haustein both of Mt. Olive, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Edward Ruschhaupt, son Ron Ruschhaupt and brother and sister in law Raymond & Vera Niehaus.

Friends may call on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL from 4:00 pm until 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Funeral services are Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL with Pastor Kelley Mitteis officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Olive City Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
Lunch will be held following the graveside service at the Staunton Zion Lutheran Grade School Gym.
Organist Dennis Stiegemeier will accompany the congregation on "Now Thank We All Our God", " What A Friend We Have In Jesus", " In The Garden", and " Great Is Thy Faith Fulness".
Serving as Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Ryan, Mark, and Tim Ruschhaupt and Warren Hemann, Gary Schoen, and Max Neunaber.
Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton or Mt. Olive City Cemetery.
