Served in the United States Army, June 1953 to March 1955, honorably discharged, rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Joined his father, Elmer, and practiced law with the firm of Droste & Droste in Mt. Olive until his retirement in 1996.

Religion: Baptized at the home of his grandparents Frank and Emma Brown in Hillsboro, March 1930. Confirmed, Zion Lutheran Church, Mt. Olive, April 30, 1946.

Organizations: American Bar Association; Yurkovich-Beck American Legion Post No. 594.

Interests: Tennis, bowling and travel. Followed U of I sports and the St. Louis Cardinals. Treasured his time with family.

Survivors: Wife: Marian Droste of Las Vegas, Nevada. Children: Alan (Rajia) Droste of Laguna Beach, California; Robyn (Rob) Simburger of Collierville, Tennessee; Jim (Laura) Droste of Porter Ranch, California. Grandchild: Erica (Nicholas) Rawls of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Great Grandchildren: Cassandra and Christian Rawls. Sisters-in-Law: Helen Hainaut of Springfield, Illinois; and Mary Droste of Bloomington, Indiana.
