Church:  A member of the 1st Methodist Church, Mt. Olive, IL.
Occupation: Life long Farmer and owned and operated Sammy's Lake for fishing on his farm in Litchfield for many years and also Chip-A-Way Lake in St. Louis County. Missouri. 
Organizations: Member of the Farm Bureau
Military:  A member of the United States Army from April  9, 1954 until his discharge on February 7, 1956 as a PFC, having served in Occupied Germany.  He received the National Defense Medal.
Interests: Sam had many interests, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, golfing, horseshoes, cutting grass and riding around on his gator.  An avid cardinal fan. Loved the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
