Agnes Ann (Grejtak) Chapman Obituary

Agnes Ann Chapman passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at her residence in Mt. Olive, IL. She was 100 years old.


 

Agnes was born on July 1, 1925 to Martin Grejtak and Anna (Florian) Grejtak in Mt. Olive, IL. She attended Holy Trinity School until the 9th Grade. Agnes went to work at the 10th grade age at Bahns grocery store in Mt Olive until the war. She then moved to Chicago to live with her sister Liz and work for the war effort at Western Electric as a radar technician. Agnes married Arthur Carl Chapman on November 15, 1947 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mt. Olive, IL. He preceded her in death. After she married, Agnes was a homemaker. She loved her family. She loved playing pinochele, poker, yahtzee and farkle. She liked the slots occasionally. She was formidable at anything she played. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.


 

Agnes is survived by two daughters: Carolee (Donald) Brewer and Judy (Ron) Scheller, six grandchildren: Clarissa, Jennifer, Daren, Jesse, Alex and Clayt, five great-grandchildren: Madison, Ryan, Ryder, John and Anna.


 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anna Grejtak, her daughter, Linda Frizzo, three sisters: Anna, Mary and Elizabeth, six brothers: Joe, John, Mike, George,Frank and Joe.

 

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church from 10 am – 11 am, with Mass being held at 11 am.


 

Memorials are suggested to St. John Paul II Catholic Church and the Mt. Olive Care Center.
