Betty J. Weiss, formerly of Mt. Olive, passed away on April 20, 2022, at Heritage Health Care and Rehab Center in Staunton, Illinois, at the age of 94.
Betty was born on November 3, 1927, in Hillsboro, Illinois to parents Benjamin and Nora (Coyle) Busch. She married Kenneth Weiss on December 14, 1946, in Grantfork, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2010.
Betty was a homemaker, and along with her husband, enjoyed farming for their entire working career. After retiring the couple moved into Mt. Olive from their farm near Walshville. She was an expert seamstress, and her other hobbies included crafting, reading and gardening. Betty loved to play cards, and she participated in several clubs. Betty treasured the time she spent with her family, and she was a “shining light” among all who knew her.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two sisters: Ruth Meyer and Geraldine Schulte, and a son-in-law, Robert McEwen.
Betty is survived by two children: a son, Leonard (Patricia) Weiss of Mt. Olive, and a daughter, Sharon McEwen of Litchfield, four grandchildren: Brett Batty of Litchfield, Jennifer (Brad) Farris of Charlotte, N.C, Brad (Stacy) Weiss of Germantown, TN, and Ryan Batty of Murfreesboro, TN, four great grandchildren: Reid and Campbell Farris of Charlotte, NC, Jake Weiss of Germantown, TN, and Avery Batty of Hillsboro, IL.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Becker and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL, on Saturday, April 30, from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services immediately following.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Olive Public Library or the Mt. Olive City Cemetery.
