Betty Jane Schultz Weiss 1924-2019
Betty Jane Weiss 95, Galesburg, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019
at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
She was born March 26, 1924 in Litchfield, the daughter of William and Edna Albert Schultz.
She married Olin Weiss on July 10, 1943 in St. Louis.
She is survived by three daughters, Marsha (Jim) McGhee of Galesburg,
Becky (Paul) Stroud of Blue Springs, Mo. and Leisa Brooks of Staunton, seven grandchildren,
10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Renee Tolliver, her parents and
her greatly loved cousin, Audrey Prange.
Betty graduated from the Mt. Olive High School with the Class of 1942. She worked in a bank in St. Louis
before starting a family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her four girls.
She became an accomplished seamstress and made clothes for the girls. She loved gardening and all flowers.
Her passion was cooking and baking, Her pies, applesauce and German specialties were just the best.
She loved shopping and traveling. She and her husband visited many Civil War Battlefields in many states.
For the last 6 years she has had her dog Tasha to take care of and to love. She will be deeply missed by all her family.
