Dolores (Claytor) Bartok

 

Dolores (Claytor) Bartok passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 12:12 a.m. at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center in Gillespie, IL. She was 88 years old.

 

Dolores was born on October 30,1936 in Granite City, IL to Gwynne Claytor and Amelia (Homm) Claytor. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Mt. Olive, IL and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in the Class of 1954. Dolores was employed as a property manager and bookkeeper for Hebenstreit Apartments in Benld, IL where she retired after 25 years of service. She also worked at the Macoupin County Courthouse, Illinois Valley Economic Development Corporation both in Carlinville, IL and National Bank of Mt. Olive. Dolores married William S. Bartok in Hernando, Mississippi on May 19,1956. They later divorced. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, and a member of the Lydia Circle. Dolores was also a 56 year member of the VFW #5790 Ladies Auxiliary serving as both a president and treasurer.

 

Dolores is survived by three sons: Ed (Stephanie) Bartok of Gillespie, IL, Bill (Tina) Bartok of Auburn, IL, and Joe Bartok (Gretchen Niehaus) of Mt. Olive, IL, one daughter, Sue (John) Bunch of St. Peters, MO, one brother, Larry C. “Butch” (Vicki) Claytor of Rockford, IL, grandchildren: Taylor and Evan Bartok of Gillespie, IL, Blake Bartok of Staunton, IL, Madison and Avery Bartok of Jerseyville, IL, Amber (Marcus) Boyer of Billings, MT, Emily and Sydney Sanner of Billings, MT, Tyler Sanner - U.S. Navy, Jordan (Orlin) Harrington of Billings, MT, and great grandchildren: Beckham and Bryson Bartok (Blake and Darah) Hillsboro Il. Jet Bartok (Evan and Jordan) Gillespie Il. Brenden, Natalie, Mark, Eleyne, and Matthew of Billings, MT. and nieces and nephews: Sharon (Wally) Ruemmler, Angie (Ben) Knutson, Rich (Debbie) Hood, Mark (Sally) Wegman, Steve (Lisa) Claytor, Kenny (Debbie) Claytor, Georgia (Carl) Beechler, Becky Kutska(Ken), Christy Dobzynski(Darin) Jodi (Mark) Elizondo,

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Betty (Claytor) Wegman and Colleen (Claytor) Hood and two brothers: George Claytor and Carl “Fritz” Claytor.

 

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Ritter officiating. Interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL. Lunch for friends and family will take place at the Immanuel Lutheran Educational Building immediately following interment.
