Doris Marie (Liebscher) Hood

Doris Marie Liebscher Hood, born May 14, 1928 in Carlsburg, Illinois, passed away on July 10, 2023 at the age of 95. She was the daughter of Hugo and Marie Korunka Liebscher.

She married Charles W. Hood in 1949 in St. Charles, Missouri.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles, sons, Michael, Robert and Charles, Jr. and granddaughter Leslie Lafferty.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynda (Sam) Aramowicz of Worden, Illinois and Renee Hood of Mt. Olive, Illinois.

Her grandchildren include Jeremiah Hood of Houston, Texas, James Karrick of Benld, Illinois, Lindsie (Mitch) Anderson of Brighton, Illinois and Nicholas and Andrew Aramowicz of Worden, Illinois.

She attended Mt. Olive High School graduation in 1946. She was a lifelong resident of Mt. Olive and often joked about being related to half the town. She was employed at Brown Shoe Company, Roller Derby, and the Mill Cafe. She enjoyed motorcycles and talked often of her spirited adventures. Her first motorcycle was an Indian. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, and wine-making. Her kitchen was open to all. Her love of animals led to many purring cats and tail-wagging dogs. Humor and laughter was a big part of her life. She and Charlie spent a lot of their time in Gulf Shores and often traveled with dear friends from Germany. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and rarely missed watching a game.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July, 14 2023 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL. A second visitation will take place at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive on Saturday, July, 15 2023 from 10 - 11 a.m. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive City Cemtery.

Memorials can be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery or Benld Adopt-a-Pet Shelter. Becker and Son Funeral Home of Mt. Olive is in charge of arrangements.
