Doris Mae Stamer


 

Doris Mae Stamer passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2025 at her residence in Killeen, TX. She was 87 years old.


 

Doris was born on October 31,1937 to Roy W. Voyles and Hazel (Skelton) Voyles in Tulare, CA. She attended grade school at the Big Brick School in Gillespie, IL. Doris graduated from Gillespie High School in the class of 1955. On December 31, 1955, she married Jack Stamer in Gillespie, IL, and they later divorced. Doris was employed by the Carrollton, TX Police Department and a detention officer from 1991-2006. In 1980, she attended Christ for the Nations Bible School and earned an Associated Pastor’s Degree. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Doris founded the Faith Book Store, a non profit organization in Litchfield, IL in 1982. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting.


 

A devoted Christian, Doris lived her Life guided by Faith, Love and Compassion. Her unwavering commitment to her Family and her Faith were the Cornerstone of her Life. Doris will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her, whether through her warm words of encouragement, or her steadfast devotion to her Community and Church. She left an indelible mark on all who knew her. 


 

Doris is survived by two sons: Dale (Tena) Stamer and Scott (Valinda) Stamer, a daughter-in-law, Jan Stamer, her son, Anthony, and her daughter, Elizabeth, grandchildren: Jason Stamer, Jennifer (Stamer)) Woolsey, Jeremy Stamer, Jacob Stamer and Brian Stamer, and great-grandchildren: Logan, Rocco, Giada, Jonathan, Zachary, Madison, Ellie, Brandon, Kaylee, Krislyn, and great great grandchildren: Noah, Brantley, Lucy and Ellie.


 

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Keith Stamer, and a brother, Marvin Voyles.


 

Graveside services will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapman Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
