Dorothy Jean (Butler) Anglin passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms and surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 6:50 p.m. at her residence. She was 80 years old.
Dorothy was born on May 7, 1945 at Christian Welfare Hospital in East St. Louis, IL to Max and Anna (Mueller) Butler. She graduated from East Side Flyers High School in East St. Louis, IL. Dorothy married Jess R. Anglin Sr. on June 7, 1963. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2023. Dorothy was well known for her cooking and baking. She worked in several restaurants around the area. She loved to cook and have family dinners. Family was always important, Dorothy was an avid Bingo and card player. Dorothy will be missed for her smile and the love she had for everyone. She was well known to all as grandma or GG. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandma, sister and GG.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Dawn (Scott) Martin of Mt. Olive, IL, four sons: Ron (Trish) Anglin and Phillip Anglin of Litchfield, IL, Scott Anglin and Donald Anglin of Mt. Olive, IL, eleven grandchildren: Michael (Corina) Lee, Christina (Derek) Sellers, Andrew (Jenna) Bone, Cody Anglin, Whitney (Logan) Miller, Regina Holmes, Matthew Bone, Tiffany Anglin, Aaron (Charity) Anglin, Johannah (Issac) Gotcher and Kyleigh (Sam) Anglin, two sisters: Bertha Smith of Collinsville, IL and Carol Stalherber of State Park, IL and numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Anglin Sr., her parents Max and Anna Butler, three sisters: Shirley Brown, Katherine Ogden, and Betty Ann Butler, three brothers: Max Butler, Corky Butler and Edward Butler, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Memorials are suggested to the family. Sympathy cards or flowers may be sent to her daughter, Dawn Martin, 112 Garfield Street, Mt. Olive, IL 62069.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
