Elizabeth Irene Miller

Elizabeth Irene Miller passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at her home. She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Miller was born on August 11,1935 in New Douglas, IL to John and Hulda Johnson. Her early elementary education was in a one-room school in New Douglas, IL. She graduated from Staunton High School in the Class of 1953. Mrs. Miller married Norman Gene Miller at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas on May 18, 1957. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2024. Mrs. Miller was employed by the Husman Refrigerator Company in St. Louis, MO. She also worked at Hano Business Forms and Mennel Milling Company both in Mt. Olive, IL. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Olive where she served as organist for 60 years. She was also a member of the Macoupin Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) for 37 years and a County Board Member.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Bob) Osmoe and Jean (Gary) Salzman, three sons: Jeffrey (Carrie) Miller, Steven (Gena) Miller and Douglas (Elizabeth) Miller, ten grandchildren: Angela (Corey) Johnson, Amanda (Jeff) Osmoe, Emily (Marc) Ruemmler, Tara (John) Kardis, Michael (Lindsey) Knes, Bradley Miller, Margaret (Zack) Eickhoff, Jesse (Emily) Pruden, Jake fiance (Kendra) Miller and Autumn Baugh, thirteen great-grandchildren: Blair Johnson, Kate and Vivian Osmoe, Aiden and Ethan Ruemmler, Ellie Kardis, Libby and Millie Knes, Jackson Miller, Brenden Eickhoff, Ania Hargrove, Max Pruden and Abby McCulloch, one brother Arthur (Carolyn) Johnson and two sisters-in-law Marilyn Miller and Shirley Johnson and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hulda Johnson, her husband, Norman Gene Miller, sisters: Mary and Emma Johnson, brothers: John (Erla) Johnson and Henry Johnson and a granddaughter Dannielle Burborow.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, IL. A service officiated by Reverend Gary Hanover and Reverend Ed Fogle will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Mt. Olive City Cemetery. A lunch for family and friends will follow at the Mt Olive VFW.

Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Mt. Olive Academic Foundation.
