Harriet Romain Grimes
Harriet Romain Grimes passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Litchfield, IL under the care of Hospice. She was 94 years old.
Harriet was born on May 21, 1929 in Litchfield, IL to James and Corita (Johnson) Goodman. After high school, Harriet worked at Scheer Truck Stop on Route 66 as a waitress where she met her husband August “Tuney” Steinbach. They married on January 6, 1951, and they lived in Mount Olive. Tuney passed away on January 30, 1977. Harriet married Richard Grimes on April 24, 1982. They loved to travel and were members of the White City Motorcycle Club. Dick passed away on January 2, 2019. Harriet was a lifelong member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church.
Harriet is survived by one brother, Roger (Carol) Goodman, two sisters-in-law: Verna Goodman and Susan Goodman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, Harriet was preceded in death by her son, Michael Steinbach, and three brothers: James Goodman, John Goodman, and Steve Goodman and one sister, Marilyn Goodman.
Visitation is Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Olive, IL. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Don Dexheimer will take place following the visitation at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to Mount Olive Methodist Church.
