Harriet Elizabeth Leidholdt
Harriet Elizabeth Leidholdt passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 7:57 p.m. at her residence in Weldon Spring, MO.
Harriet was born on Wednesday, January 25, 1933 in Mehlville, MO. A daughter of Fred and Alma (nee Guehring) Lowen. Harriet was baptized on April 9, 1933 at St. John’s Church in Mehlville, MO. Beginning in 1939, Harriet and her brother, William, were raised by their aunt and uncle, Grant and Lillie Johnson of Webster Groves, MO. Harriet was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at Christ Lutheran Church in Webster Groves, MO and graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1951.
After graduation, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in St. Louis, MO until her marriage to James Howard Leidholdt of Chippewa Falls, WI on June 7,1958 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Maplewood, MO. This marriage was blessed with three children.
Harriet is survived by Karen (nee Leidholdt) Ronald Wagner of Roanoke, IL, Stephen (Sandy) of Chesterfield, MO, David (Janelle) Leidholdt of Dardenne Prairie, MO. Harriet has eight grandchildren: Michael (Hollyne) Wagner of Rock Island, IL, Mark (Tabitha) Wagner of Roanoke, IL and Daniel (Julie) Wagner, of Normal, IL, Timothy Wagner of Roanoke, IL, Joshua Leidholdt of St. Louis, MO, Chelsea Leidholdt of St Peters, MO, Lydia Leidholdt of Maryland Heights, MO, Luke Leidholdt of Dardenne Prairie, MO, four great-granddaughters: Chloe Leidholdt, Grace Wagner, Natalie Wagner and Willow Wagner and two great-grandsons Caleb Wagner and Oliver Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, sisters, Ruth and Dorothy and brothers, William, James, Alvin and grandson, Zachery Leidholdt, who was stillborn.
Harriet was active in four of the seven churches in which her husband served as Lutheran Pastor. She devoted her time as a Sunday school, VBS, and weekday school teacher, and participated in the Lydia Circle, LWML, Altar Guild, Choir, and Christian Women in Mission. She and James also served as coordinators for the Mt. Olive Care Center, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She also served as an election judge for Macoupin County, IL. Harriet spent the last six years living at Breeze Park in Weldon Springs, MO where she was active and enjoyed a busy social life.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL with a service to follow officiated by Pastor Walther. Interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL. Lunch for family and friends will follow interment at the Immanuel Lutheran Educational Building.
Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hour Ministries and Immanuel Lutheran Church.
