Howard Lee Schehl

Howard (Howie) Lee Schehl passed away at his residence at 7:19 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was 63 years old.

Howard was born on March 5, 1958 in Granite City, Illinois to the late Andrew John Schehl Sr. and Mary Ellen (Renzler) Schehl. He attended school in Granite City and in Mt. Olive. He was employed as a truck driver. Howard enjoyed playing Xbox and watching football, science fiction and Marvel movies. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Howard is survived by four children: Timothy Hogue of Mt. Olive, Hollie Schehl (Kevin) and Amanda (Justin) Kowalke of Texas, and Dominick Schehl of Florida, ten grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, five brothers: Chris (Sam) Schehl, Edward (Brenda) Schehl, Roy Schehl, and Robert Schehl all of Mt. Olive, and Andrew (Edith) Schehl of Livingston, three sisters: Lisa (Jim) Tiepleman, Kathy McCoy, and Vicki Gage of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Scott A. Schehl Sr., and a son, Thomas Schehl.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL. Services will begin at noon on Saturday February, 12. Reverend James Ritter will officiate. Burial will take place at Chapman Cemetery.
