James Robert Dannis

James Robert Dannis of Mt. Olive, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 3:58 a.m. He was 54 years old.

James was born on September 26, 1967 in Litchfield, IL, the son of Robert James Dannis and Jacqueline (Puckett) Dannis. He attended Mt. Olive schools and received a GED. He went on to become a truck driver. He married Sharl Smith, and they later divorced.

James enjoyed fishing, deer and mushroom hunting especially at Shoal Creek. He loved playing “Smoke’n Aces Poker, and his favorite food was a “good” grilled burger.

He is survived by his brothers: Dennis (Louise) Weiss of Mulberry Grove, IL, and William J.H. Weiss of Florida, his sister Tesha Dannis of Edger Springs, MO, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister-in-law, Paula (Reese) Weiss, and special friend, Victor Bolar.

Visitation will be held at Becker and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. when the service will begin. Burial will be at Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
