Military: Private First Class for the U.S. Army. He was a member of the military police in the Philippines.
Occupation: He worked at Hano Business Forms in Mt. Olive, IL and was a life-long farmer.
Church: A parishioner at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, formerly Holy Trinity where he was baptized, had his first communion and was confirmed by Father Charles Knaperek.
Interests: He played Santa Claus for the kids. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Staunton Council #2197. He loved animals, especially his dog Stash and his cat Knucklehead, the outdoors, horse racing, playing bingo, visiting with friends at local restaurants, and attending area church dinners. Also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Olive, IL; Bobby Swetlik of Florida; Mary Jean (Leroy) Lentz of Staunton, IL; Carol Young of Staunton, IL.; Annette (Ron) Staub of New Douglas, IL; Mary Ann (Bill) Vadalabene of Sawyerville, IL; Peggy (Ken) Osmoe of Mt. Olive, IL; and Bonnie Ulrich of Commerce City, CO.
Preceded in Death: Parents: Joseph and Anna Hovanec Swetlik; Cousins: Jerry Svetlik, Bill Svetlik, Gary Swetlik, Joseph Hebenstreit, Raymond Hebenstreit, Rosella Choc, Lorraine Geders, and Sylvia Swetlik.
Visitation: Monday, April 3, 2017 5-8 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. St. John Paul II, Mt. Olive, IL
Clergy: Father Larry Anschutz
Lunch: Following the burial at St. John Paul II church hall served by the Altar & Rosary Society.
