Jeffrey Raymond Rabida Obituary

Jeffrey Raymond Rabida passed away in the early morning hours of March 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 13, 1960 in Green Bay, WI to Raymond and Patricia (Krummel) Rabida. He married Dione Renee Rudolph on April 26, 1980 and they had one son, Jeremy. He was a loving and cherished husband and father.

Jeff worked for the Mt. Olive CUSD #5 for 40 years, starting as a janitor at the age of 16. He assumed the role of maintenance man at the age of 20 and head custodian at the age of 25 until his retirement as the Administrator of Building and Grounds at the age of 56. During that time, he dealt with many challenges such as the ancient boiler system that heated the old high school building, spending the night at the school if the temperature dropped below 17 degrees to make sure the pressures were maintained and released properly. He worked directly with the many architects during the construction and remodeling of the K-12 buildings when they were threatened with mine subsidence, maintaining a photo journal of the progress and monitoring cracks to assure no changes were occurring. He poured his heart and soul into the school and took great pride in maintaining a safe environment for the students and faculty of Mt. Olive.

When Jeff retired from the school, he picked up multiple jobs with First National Bank in Staunton, working as a courier, janitor, maintenance man, and conducted property inspections of collaterals held by the bank. He retired for good on February 18, 2020. That’s when he became one of the Mt. Olive “walkers.” Jeff started every day for the next four years with 10,000 steps in the morning. By the end of the day, he would easily have 20,000 steps. He also enjoyed volunteering and helping others. He delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Mt. Olive Care Center. Jeff was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer hunting with his son and friends. He was a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers and a season ticket holder from 2016 to 2022. His favorite hobby was wood crafts. He made many pieces over the years, and they are cherished by the family and friends who are lucky to have them. He never liked to “sell” a piece because then it wasn’t a hobby.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Dione Rabida, son, Jeremy (Sara) Rabida, mother, Patricia Rabida, father-in-law (Larry Richardson), one sister, Julie (Dan) Brey, two brothers – John (Jodi) Rabida and Jay (Tammy) Rabida, four brothers-in-law – Edward (Shanisha) Rudolph, Erron Rudolph, David Rudolph, and Jason (Ling) Richardson, two sisters-in-law – Kimberly (Jesse) Doran and Crystal (Charlie) Burnett, granddaughter, Monnet Carr, aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Rabida, mother-in-law, Carolyn Richardson, sister, Jean Page, two brothers-in-law – John Page and Daniel Richardson, and a sister-in-law, Sonya Rudolph.
