Jeffrey Edward Soapes

 

Jeffrey Edward Soapes passed away at 4:31 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL. He was 65 years old.

 

Jeffrey, the son of Edward and Barbara (Taylor) Soapes, was born in Litchfield, IL, on July 20, 1955. He attended school in Mt. Olive, IL, and graduated in 1972. Jeffrey worked as a welding inspector and for the City of Mt. Olive. He was retired. Jeffrey attended the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Olive. Jeff was an avid hunter and motorcycle enthusiast, but was happiest spending time as “Pappy” to his grandchildren.

 

Surviving are his parents, his daughters Hollie (Brant) Fleming and Wendy (Brad) Schoen, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Schoen, and a grandson, Van Fleming, three sisters: Jeanine Vancauwelaert, Donna (Dennis) Yokley, and Darla (Tim) Pickerill, his companion Tammy Strader and his beloved nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

 

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL. The service, officiated by Reverend Nancy Hubert, will begin at 11:30. Burial will be at Mt. Olive City Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL. Mask and social distancing will be required.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Olive Care Center and First United Methodist Church of Mt. Olive.
