Jerry Allen Lewis, Sr.
Jerry Allen Lewis, Sr. passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at his home. He was 74 years old.
Jerry was born on December 21, 1946, in Hickman, Kentucky, to Lenoard and LaVerne Lewis “Vernie” (Elmore). He graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, Illinois. He married Virginia Helen Jackson on April 26, 1969, in Bethalto. Jerry, a machinist, was employed by Olin Brass in East Alton for 42 years. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Staunton, Illinois. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and other sports.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Jerry Jr. of Mt. Olive, a daughter, Jennifer (Randy) Jackson-Brown, of Staunton, a brother, Travis (Elaine) Lewis of O'Fallon, Missouri, a sister, Anita Garcia of Kentucky, and grandchildren: Nathaniel Brown, Quinten Brown, Mitchell Brown, Marshall Brown, Sydney Brown, Whitney Brown, Neali Tate, and Jacob Lewis. Great grandchildren: Hunter, Kamille, Luca, and Elijah Niehaus. Lydia Brown. Everly Tate.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Lenoard (Mae) Lewis and Vernie (James) King, two brothers Ray and Eugene Lewis, and one sister Vicky Lewis.
Visitation will take place at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, Illinois on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10 a.m. Until 11 a.m. when services will begin. Reverend Tim and Ron Rhodus from Cross Church in Carlinville will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
