JoAnn Schuette passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 12:23 p.m. at Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care in Litchfield, IL. She was born on January 17, 1938 in Litchfield, IL. JoAnn attended Zion Lutheran School in Mt. Olive until seventh grade and then attended Mt. Olive public schools and graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the Class of 1955. After going to Alton Beauty School, she opened JoAnn’s Beauty Shop in her home and operated it for over 40 years. She had many devoted customers. As a lifelong resident of Mt. Olive, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, delivered Meals on Wheels, and participated in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She also donated her time and energy helping with chicken dinners, working at church picnics, and making kits for the Lutheran World Relief. JoAnn was also a long-time member of Delta Tau Sorority. She enjoyed working crafts and generously shared her labors of love with friends, family, and anyone in need of comfort. Her crocheted baby blankets are cherished heirlooms by many of her family members. JoAnn had a gift for decorating and a passion for gardening and growing flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and went on many trips with the Staunton National Bank, as well as, visited family in Colorado during the holidays. 

JoAnn is survived by cousins: Gene Marburger, Larry Marburger, Gladys Durbin, Deloris Jordan, Betty Kosowski, Gary Keiser, Jane Frailey, Diann Harbour, Ed Marburger, Mary Ann Hawker, Pat Wetzel and Judy Ottel. 

JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Selma Schuette and Aaron (Slim) Schuette. 

JoAnn’s family would like to thank her dear friend, Sharon Dean, for her unlimited kindness. They would also like to thank the employees of Copper Creek for providing loving care for JoAnn in recent years.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL from 9 a.m.- 11 a.m. The service will start at 11 a.m. and be officiated by Pastor Zack Krampien. Interment will take place at the Mt. Olive City Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL. Lunch for friends and family will take place immediately following interment at the Zion Lutheran Church Hall.

Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olive City Cemetery.
