Joey Wayne Snyder
Joey Wayne Snyder passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 4:01 p.m. at his residence in Springfield, IL., surrounded by his family. He was 58 years old.
Joey was born on March 11, 1968 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL to Marlin Maurice Snyder, Sr. and Darlene Ann (Kunze) Snyder. He attended Harvard Park Elementary School and graduated from Springfield Southeast High School. Joey worked at Springfield Memorial Hospital for 27 years for Central Supply.Unit. He enjoyed chatting up all the nurses with his favorite line, “Why aren’t you working!” Joey lived his entire life in Springfield, IL. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching them play. Joey loved going to the movies, playing poker with his brothers and nephews, playing poker machines and video games. Joey also loved hanging out with his Memorial family.
Joey is survived by his brothers: Maurice Marlin (Cindy) Snyder Jr., Donald Fred Snyder, Mark Allen (Rhonda) Snyder, Sr., sisters: Tammy Ann (Ray) Panting and Suzanne (Suzie) Jean Biddle, all of Springfield, aunts: Bette Jones and Doris Westbrook, nephews: Ronald M. Snisky, Timothy S. Snyder, Michael M. Snyder, Mark A. Snyder Jr., and great nephews, Ethan S. Epperson, Jameson Tapscott, nieces: Rebecca (Becky) L. (Joshua) Epperson, Rachel M. Lang, Sara A. (Anthony) Kendall, and Bethany E. Snisky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Darlene Snyder, grandparents, Fred and Daisy Snyder and William and Bernice Kunze, and a brother, Kenneth Scott Snyder.
Visitation will take place at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A service will begin at 11:00 and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Simburger. Interment will be at Chapman Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
