Judith Marie Rosenthal passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 6:40 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Hillsboro, IL. She was 91 years old.
Judith Marie (nee May) Rosenthal was born on July 25, 1932 in Livingston, IL, the first child of Harris and Helen (Heim) May. She attended Livingston schools and graduated from Livingston High School in 1950.
On September 30, 1950, Judy married John O. Rosenthal of Mt. Olive in the Church of the Ascension. John and Judy enjoyed 51 years of marriage and were blessed with six children. John preceded her in death.
Judy was employed at the National Bank of Mt Olive, the State of Illinois, the City of Mt Olive, as bookkeeper for local businesses, and at Staunton Public Library. She had a love for dogs and enjoyed reading books.
Judy is survived by four children: Sally (Jim) Mills of Greenville, SC, Teresa Swenson of Mt Olive, Jeff (Carol) Rosenthal of New Palestine, IN, and Allison Werner of Staunton, IL; thirteen grandchildren: James (Karen) Mills, Bonnie (Sam) Eakins, Laura (Doug) Mefford, Stephanie (Galen) Schwab-Parnell, David R. Schwab, Ethan Swenson, Katie (Kasey) Bradley, Susan (Luke Amos) Rosenthal, Jennifer (Shane) Kessinger , Joshua (Elizabeth) Rosenthal, Clayton Gruenloh, Braden Werner, and Madilynn Werner; nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons David A. Rosenthal and Charles A. Rosenthal, sons-in-law Kenneth Swenson and William Werner, grandsons Kevin M. Mills, Matthew M. Schwab, and John David Rosenthal, and sister and brother-in-law Marjorie (Alfred) Purdy.
Visitation will take place at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10-11 am. Interment will take place after visitation at New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Olive Public Library.
