Mary Ellen Williams-Scheller passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 9:09 p.m. at her residence in Mt. Olive, IL. She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Williams-Scheller was born on September 19, 1935 in Collinsville, IL to Frank W. Hirtz and Elizabeth Boerkel Hirtz. She attended school in Granite City, IL. Mrs. Williams-Scheller married Fred Charles Williams on September 15, 1952 in Granite City, IL, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2003. She married Eugene William Scheller on March 21, 2014, and he also preceded her in death on April 6, 2019. Mrs. Williams-Scheller was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton, IL. Mrs. Williams-Scheller enjoyed playing bingo at the VFW, watching high school sports, fishing and camping, playing cards especially, poker, cooking and taking walks.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Beverly) Williams, seven daughters: Gloria (David) Damo, Mary (Jim) Sawyer, Pamela Crider, Teresa Buzick, Carol Hawk, Deborah Willows, Tina (Tim) Korunka, twenty–seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister, Catherine Elge and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son, Freddie Williams, two grandsons: Jeff Buzick and Shaun Damo, two sons-in-law, Leon Willows and Carl Buzick, two brothers: Clarence and Walter Hirtz, four sisters: Bernice Rich, Pauline Marsh, Dorothy Hirtz, and Josephine Jordan.

Visitation and Services will take place at Becker and Son Funeral Home. Friends may visit on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6 - 8 p.m. Services will begin on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. Father Thomas Hagstrom will officiate. Burial will be in Benld Cemetery in Benld, IL.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
