Nelson J. Grman, 86, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Nelson was born on July 9, 1938 to the late Michael and Barbara (Bellovich) Grman. He married Elaine (Spears) Grman on July 1, 1967 and she preceded him in death on June 9, 2024.

 

 

Nelson attended Mt. Olive grade school and high school. He was a newspaper pressman and retired from the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Nelson was a Catholic with a deep love of God. He was a liberal Democrat who believed in democracy and his government. Nelson was a lifelong union member. He was a member of several non-for-profits. His favorite was the Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive.

 

 

He is survived by Daughters: Penny Grman, Karen (Robbie) Bailey, and Beth (Michael) DuFrain. Grandchildren: Casey (Emiley) Best, Cody (Natalie) Best, Eric (Connor) Yarnik, Scott Yarnik, and Drake DuFrain. Great-Grandchildren: Myles Best, Quinn Yarnik, and Sawyer Best.

 

 

A public graveside service will take place Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive, Il at noon and will be officiated by Father Thomas Hagstrom. Following the graveside service, a memorial reception will take place at the Mt. Olive VFW for friends and family from 12:30pm to 3pm.
