Robert (Bob) George Kertis
Robert (Bob) George Kertis passed away at Heritage Health in Litchfield, IL, on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 8:10 p.m. He was ninety years old.
Bob was born on February 25, 1932 to John and Edna (Hochmuth) Kertis in Mt. Olive. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Mt. Olive High School. Bob graduated in the class of 1949. He served as a SSGT in the United State Air Force in the Korean Conflict from 1952-1955. He earned the National Defense and Good Conduct Metals. He married Mary Magdalene Kalvin, and she survives. Bob was employed by CIPS as an electrician from June 20, 1966 until his retirement on June 30, 1992. He was a member of the St. John Paul II (formerly Holy Trinity) Church. Bob enjoyed outdoor activities. Fishing, hunting mushrooms and deer hunting were some of his favorites.
Bob is survived by his wife: Mary of Mt. Olive, three sons: Bob (Karen) Kertis of Minnesota, Tony Kertis of Springfield, IL, and Tom Kertis of Mt. Olive, one brother Charles (Cora) Kertis of Minnesota, four grandsons John, James, Jeffrey, and Justin, four great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, John (Red) Kertis.
Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Mt. Olive with Father Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Friends may visit the church from 9:30 until 11:00 when Mass will begin. Burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL. A luncheon will follow at the church hall.
Memorials are suggested to the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
