Roleen Marie Kirkwood passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 10:26 p.m. at Saint Clare Medical Center in Fenton, MO. She was 87 years old.

 
Roleen was born on May 21,1935 to Joseph Bolar and Alma (Fritzsche) Bolar. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and completed the course of study in May of 1950. In 1978, she received her GED. She married Joseph Kirkwood on August 20, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL and they later divorced. Roleen worked 17 years as a nurse's aide in several community hospitals:  St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL, Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, IL, and St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL, which she retired from in 1995.  She also worked for the Mt. Olive School Dist. as a lunch lady in her later years.  Roleen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL where she also was baptized in 1935 and confirmed in 1949. She was also a member of the Green Oaks Garden Club. Roleen enjoyed spending time with family, attending celebrations, relaxing with her kitty (Kelly) and watching her soap operas and true crime TV.   

 
Roleen is survived by her sons: William (Rhonda) Kirkwood of Worden, IL and David (Theresa) Kirkwood of Mt. Olive, IL and one daughter, Doris (Tom) Nowell of White City, IL. Six grandchildren: Heather (Brian) Ondes, Jerry (Lindsey) Laurent, Steven Laurent & Kaley, Ashley Robbins & Zack, Lacy (Andrew) Cloninger, and Jenna (Randy) Senko. And eight great-grandchildren.

 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Victor Bolar Sr., sister Norma Hard, nephew Victor Bolar Jr., and great-granddaughter Natalea Ondes.

 
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 6, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 12 p.m. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive City Cemetery followed by a lunch at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

 
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Mt. Olive Care Center.
