Steven Snyder

Steven Snyder passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by his family at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was 74 years old.

Steven was born on April 8, 1951 in Granite City, IL to Donald and Florence (Schwander) Snyder. He attended Memorial Hospital’s paramedic program in Springfield, IL. Steven was employed by American Ambulance in Springfield, IL and Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He married Sherian (Vincent) Snyder on December 27, 1980, and she survives. Steven enjoyed cooking and outdoor activities: hunting, fishing and golfing. In retirement, he loved cutting grass.

Steven is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherian, children: David Korunka of Alhambra, IL, Karen (David) Hough of Oklahoma City, OK, Carrie (Matt) Ruemmler of Southern Pines, NC, and Stephanie (Jacob) Elam of Troy, IL, grandchildren: Jordan (Nick) Garman, A.J. (Tori) Jackson, Drew Hough, Grace Ruemmler, Cyle Korunka, Raegan Ruemmler, Alex Ruemmler, Josephine Elam, and Levi Elam, great-grandchildren: Piper, Cooper, and Hunter Garman, and Jonathan and Eleanor Jackson, siblings: Shirley (Mick) Korunka, Dona (James) Green of Litchfield, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, a brother, Richard, a sister, Vicky, a granddaughter, Abigail, and a beloved dog, Lilly.

Visitation will take place at the Mt. Olive Methodist Church on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10 until noon. The service, officiated by Pastor Nancy Hubert and Pastor Kevin Simburger will begin immediately after visitation. A meal will take place at the Methodist Church Hall following the service. 

Memorials are suggested to the Gillespie/Benld Ambulance Service and the Mt. Olive Methodist Church.
