Valera Darlene Schoen, 84, of Mt. Olive, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 4:30 am at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL. Valera was born on February 26, 1938 in Walshville, IL to George Schoen and Erna (Schutte) Schoen. Valera went to the Davis School in New Douglas, IL, Zion Grade School and graduated from Mt. Olive High School Class of 1955. Valera retired in 1993 working for Defense Mapping Agency for 38 years. Valera was an avid Cardinal Fan and enjoyed travelling.

Valera is survived by a Brother, Gary (Janice) Schoen of Mt. Olive, IL; 2 Sisters, Marilyn Forbes of New Douglas, IL, Sheryl (Gary) Buske of Mt. Olive, Ill Niece, Laurie Wilhelm of Staunton, IL; 3 Nephews, Allen (Suzanna) Forbes of Gillespie, IL and Gary (Brandy) Buske, Jr. of Staunton, IL, John (Kierstian) Schoen of Highland, IL.

Valera is preceded in death by her parents; Brother-in-law, Merle Forbes.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, IL with Rev. Tom Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas, IL. Memorials can be made to the Mt. Olive Fire Department. Becker & Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive is in charge of arrangements
